Celebrating Mrs Day’s Triumph on the World Stage

Across our trust, we take immense pride in recognising the outstanding achievements of our staff and students. We recently celebrated an extraordinary accomplishment—Mrs Sam Day’s success representing Team GB at the World Championships in Ice Swimming. As a dedicated member of the Looe Community Academy team, her journey was an inspiration to us all.
Mrs Day’s story was one of resilience, perseverance, and sheer determination. Overcoming setbacks, embracing challenges, and pushing past personal limits, she embodied the very essence of a growth mindset. Her achievement was a testament to the power of dedication and belief in one’s potential—values that we strive to instil across all our schools.
In recognition of her remarkable accomplishment, Looe Community Academy proudly presented Mrs Day with the Performance Shield—an award that marked the beginning of a new tradition. This shield serves as a lasting symbol of excellence, to be awarded to individuals who demonstrate unwavering commitment to growth and personal achievement.
Reflecting on her experience, Mrs Day expressed her gratitude for the support she had received. In an emotional address, she spoke of the privilege of representing Team GB, the thrill of medalling on the world stage, and the realisation of a lifelong dream.
An Unforgettable Message from Mrs Day
“I was deeply grateful for the incredible welcome and support I received. It was an overwhelming experience, and I felt truly honoured to have represented Team GB at the World Championships.
Attending, competing, and medalling on such a prestigious stage was a dream come true. This journey was a powerful reminder: why shouldn’t we dare to dream and take the steps to make something life-changing happen? Why shouldn’t we be the ones to succeed—to win medals, host book signings, discover new medicines, or accomplish whatever sets our hearts on fire?
Anything is possible when we put our hearts and minds into action. We are all capable of achieving the extraordinary. Thank you to everyone who was part of this unforgettable moment—I couldn’t have done it without you.”
Mrs Day’s success served as a beacon of inspiration, not just for the students of Looe Community Academy, but for all within our trust. Her journey reminded us that success is where preparation meets opportunity, and that with passion and perseverance, we can achieve the extraordinary. We are incredibly proud of her and look forward to following her continued success.
Congratulations, Mrs Day—what an incredible achievement!
